Vital Farms Partners with Urban Roots for the “Let’s Get Cooking” Video Series

Happy July! Last month, we launched an all-new video series titled, “Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots,” sponsored by Whole Foods Market, The City of Austin Office of Sustainability, and Farmhouse Delivery! Our friends at Vital Farms partnered with Urban Roots for each of the three weeks, and each week’s boxes featured their delicious Pasture Raised Ghee Butter Squeeze Bottles (if you haven’t tried their squeeze bottles, yet, these are amazing!).

We’re so thankful for our friends at Vital Farms. Not only for supporting our video series, but also because of their dedication to their mission to bring ethically produced food to the table. “Vital Farms began with a husband and wife, 20 Rhode Island Reds, an Austin pasture and a commitment to animal welfare. Matt and Catherine aspired to produce ethical food and a sustainable business. Instead, they built a transformational one. Today Vital Farms partners with approximately 200 family farms. Every hen is humanely treated, every egg is pasture-raised and we continue to elevate our (and the industry’s) standards, continuing Matt’s commitment to ethics over profits.” Learn more about our video series partnership in the video above, and find out more about Vital Farms on their website.

About the Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots Video Series

For the final week, Urban Roots is releasing a video today, July 1st, which includes a cooking tutorial, a message from Urban Roots Executive Director Max Elliott and our youth leaders, plus more exclusive content. As a part of the video series, Urban Roots sold a box of produce each week and a recipe from a local chef! The videos will be available on Instagram TV and Urban Roots’ website. While boxes are sold out at this time, if you purchased a box for any of the three weeks during the series and would like to be entered into the chance to win a giveaway prize from Made In, be sure to make an additional donation here or set up a monthly gift to become a Rainmaker here by 7/3

The week 3 box will include: Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers, Basil, Squash, Garlic Chives, Okra or Cucumbers (Farmer’s Pick), Beets, Purple Daikon Radish; Pasture-Raised Ghee Butter Squeeze Bottle from Vital Farms; a half-loaf of sourdough white bread and a chocolate chip cookie from ThoroughBread; green curry paste and coconut milk from Thai Fresh; olive oil from Con’ Olio; and Topo Chico Mineral Water

The video series serves as a fundraiser for the organization, creating an opportunity for Urban Roots to fulfill its two-part mission: to use food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community.
