Spread the Word: AISD Providing Meals to Youth During School Cancellations

As we continue to practice healthy, safe distancing to protect the greater community, we invite you to consider your part in social solidarity and ways you can share helpful community resources for those in need. One important resource is AISD’s curbside food distribution service for youth.

According to their website, “Austin ISD Food Services will prepare and provide meals for children under the age of 19 and their parents or caregivers at 70 locations while school is closed due to COVID-19 precautions. AISD is working in collaboration with the Texas Department of Agriculture, ” (AISD). Additionally, “Starting March 23, meals will be available Monday-Friday. Curbside meals will be offered at 16 sites. Austin ISD school buses will deliver meals throughout the community at 54 locations. Sites were chosen based on 50 percent or more students receiving meal benefits,” (AISD). For more information, visit this AISD web page.

Please spread the word about AISD’s curbside food distribution for all students 19-years-old and younger. Know of another important service that we can help promote? Please let us know by contacting us here or on our social media platforms @UrbanRootsATX on Instagram and Facebook.
