Spotlight on Launderette

Since the COVID-19 Crisis put an immediate stop to our youth programming on the farm, Urban Roots has been focused on growing food to deliver to those in our community who are food insecure. We’ve also been reaching out to restaurant partners, as we all know restaurants were some of the businesses that were hit hard by the COVID-19 Crisis. Last week, we donated a plethora of veggies to one of our long-time restaurant partners, Launderette, and their staff. For those of you who don’t know, they sadly had to make the tough decision to close their doors, leaving their entire team temporarily without employment.

For those looking to help, you can support Launderette in a variety of ways:

Supporting the Launderette Employee Relief Fund: “The Launderette Employee Relief Fund as a collection site for donations and virtual tips. We know that every dollar matters at this point and are working to raise $13,000. This amount would provide our dishwashers, cooks, servers, hosts & bartenders with $200 each to help offset basic expenses for the coming weeks. EVERY DOLLAR RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO OUR 64 FURLOUGHED STAFF.”

-Our friends at Launderette also own another Austin-favorite restaurant: Fresa’s Chicken Al Carbon. Both their locations (9th & Lamar & South 1st) are open and are currently offering take out options. Visit their website to order online!
