A Second Home for Urban Roots

 Dear Friends,

We have some exciting news to share! On the heels of our 10th year of empowering youth and nourishing the Austin community, we are thrilled to announce that the Austin City Council has unanimously approved a long-term lease arrangement for Urban Roots to develop an additional farm site in southeast Austin.

We are truly grateful to Mayor Steve Adler, the entire City Council, and especially Council Member Delia Garza for her leadership and for welcoming us into District 2. We appreciate the guidance and support of our new neighbors, including the Southeast Combined Neighborhood Contact Team, the Kensington Park Homeowners Association, and GAVA.

Over the coming months, we will dig right into southeast Austin by conducting thoughtful, youth-led community engagement to cultivate neighborhood relationships and learn how the new farm site can meaningfully serve community interests and needs.

Most of all, we are humbled to be able to serve more young people and grow more food for Austin. As this city continues to grow, now is the time to preserve green spaces and farmland where we can continue to work together for a more nourished community.

When you support Urban Roots, you are sowing powerful seeds of hope and deep connections to land, food, and health that allow young people to thrive on the farm and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support!

With gratitude,
Max Elliott, LMSW
Executive Director

P.S. Check out more about our new farm from our friends at the Statesman and ABJ.
