Urban Roots honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a powerful leader, activist, orator, and writer. Dr. King exemplifies what it means to be a leader driven by compassion, nonviolence, and the belief that all people are created equal.
From his 1957 book, “Stride Toward Freedom,” Dr. King said, “True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.” Rooted in service and leadership work, Urban Roots continues to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy as we help young leaders make an impact in our community by contributing to a more just and equitable food system.
At Urban Roots, we are committed to living our values every day. But we also recognize that we still have lots of work to do.
