Plant the Seeds to Grow Our Impact in 2022

2021 confirmed something we all know—the only way to build a better world is to move forward together with our eyes and hearts open, and to really see. Even the hard things.

Like, 13 Travis County zip codes have no grocery store. 15% of our Travis County neighbors experience food insecurity, which means they are without reliable access to nutritious, affordable food. In Southeast Austin’s Dove Springs neighborhood that number more than doubles to 37%. Less than 1% of food consumed in Austin is produced locally. Over the last decade we have lost 25% of our farmland.

There is work to do.

And with our second farm in Dove Springs, our youth and volunteer programs, and our food access initiatives humming, Urban Roots is here for it. In 2022 you can move us forward with community-driven solutions that create systemic change. Come along with us!

Sincerely,
Frances Deviney
