Keep Calm and Curry On

Chef Jam Sanitchat Shows Us How to Make Green Curry in “Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots” Series

Here it is: the 3rd video in our 3-part series, titled, “Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots,” sponsored by Whole Foods Market, The City of Austin Office of Sustainability, and Farmhouse Delivery! We’re so excited to share this video with you, featuring Chef Jam Sanitchat from Thai Fresh and a mouthwatering Green Curry recipe, Urban Roots youth, plus messages from an Urban Roots Rainmaker Shaleiah Fox and Executive Director Max Elliott. The video series is also available on Instagram TV. We are so honored to have been able to partner with such incredible chefs, local businesses, youth, and more to bring this cooking series to you. We hope you enjoyed cooking at home alongside these amazing chefs, especially during a time where we are all at home safely social distancing (and looking for more safe activities to keep us busy). Happy cooking!

To everyone who participated in this cooking series by purchasing a produce / meal kit box, thank you! Ready to make this tasty curry? This week’s boxes will be available for pick up this Friday, July 3rd. If you purchased a box for any of the three weeks during the series, then don’t forget to make an additional donation by July 3rd to be entered to win a giveaway prize from Made In! Better yet, when you make your additional donation monthly, you’ll also join the Urban Roots Rainmakers.

How You Can Continue to Support Urban Roots & Become a Rainmaker

“Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots” is a response to the pandemic and it’s financial impact on our organization. Due to COVID-19, we have pivoted to virtual programming and events, in an effort to continue growing food to deliver to our hunger relief partners and those who are food insecure, despite the financial and logistical challenges of the pandemic. Urban Roots will continue to cultivate leadership skills through food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community for as long as we have the support of our community.

If you are able, we urge you to consider becoming an Urban Roots Rainmaker. The Rainmakers are a group of invested, passionate, and engaged individuals making a difference in the lives of hundreds of youth and families across Austin. Rainmakers support future youth leaders and equitable food access with a monthly gift. Just $25 per month provides 10 produce boxes to families in need every year. If you want to make a positive, local impact, consider joining as an Urban Roots Rainmaker at any level. With your help, we’ll “make it rain” for Urban Roots all year round!
