We want to celebrate, recognize, and honor farmers, farmworkers, ranchers, and every hand in the process of food production this Labor Day! They ensure healthy, quality food for our country even in face of arduous conditions, like Winter Storm Uri, the unusually intense droughts and floods, and issues that have come with the pandemic. Fresh, safe, sustainable, and accessible produce is more important than ever, and everyone who takes part in food production from seed to mouth is vital. In times of growing food insecurity, it is more important than ever to understand our food systems and the work of those who are part of our food systems, as well as fighting to ensure said food is accessible.
That’s part of our mission and what we do as an organization, as Urban Roots. While we work with youth to help them grow, we also nourish our community. We can only provide our delicious, farm-fresh produce to our neighbors thanks to our hearty and hard working farm team, our incredible youth, our dedicated staff members, and with the help and support of our volunteers and community.
Thank you again to all those involved in food production and accessibility, who work hard and long days to ensure everyone can enjoy healthy, safe, fresh, and accessible produce.
