If you like being outdoors, meeting new and interesting people, and learning more about where your food comes from, you will love volunteering at the Urban Roots farm! No experience is required to volunteer – we will train you on everything you need to know. This is a great opportunity to work on the land, support our youth program, and help us grow food for the Austin community.
We rely on volunteer support, especially in the spring and fall when our youth are attending school. Volunteers help us with planting, harvesting, preparing produce for market, and whatever else needs to be done. Weekday Volunteer Mornings are held regularly on days indicated on our calendar page and typically last three to four hours, September through July. No RSVP required for individuals; groups larger than five must email email@example.com.
If you would like to meet Urban Roots’ Youth Farm Interns, learn about the program, and help us on the farm all at the same time, come to a Community Volunteer Saturday! On select Saturdays, Youth Farm Interns lead volunteers through the tasks for the day and talk about their experience in the program. Community Volunteer Saturdays are held throughout the year except in August and last three hours. Remember, space is limited at Community Volunteer Saturdays! You MUST RSVP to attend — see our updated calendar here to find the next Community Volunteer Saturday!
