This summer, we began a 3-part series titled, “Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots” video series, sponsored by Whole Foods Market, The City of Austin Office of Sustainability, and Farmhouse Delivery! A local oil and vinegar shop, Con’ Olio, partnered with Urban Roots for each of the three weeks, and is featured inside our video series recipe and produce boxes. “Con’ Olio Oils and Vinegars was the first premium olive oil tasting bar in Austin. The Con’ Olio experience — influenced by Europe’s unique food culture, street markets and small-town cafés — is available at two Austin locations: at the Arboretum & in Bee Cave at the Gateway to Falconhead,” (www.conolios.com). Learn more about Con’ Olio and their fantastic oil that is featured in the boxes!
About the Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots Video Series
For three weeks, Urban Roots is releasing a video, which includes a cooking tutorial, a message from Urban Roots Executive Director Max Elliott and our youth leaders, plus more exclusive content. As a part of the video series, Urban Roots is selling a box of produce each week and a recipe from a local chef! The videos will be available on Instagram TV and Urban Roots’ website. There are still a few boxes left for next week, so hurry to purchase a box here for $50, available for pick up on July 3rd! As a bonus, those who make an additional donation at checkout will be entered to win products from Made In!
The week 3 box will include: Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers, Basil, Squash, Garlic Chives, Okra or Cucumbers (Farmer’s Pick), Beets, Purple Daikon Radish; Pasture-Raised Ghee Butter Squeeze Bottle from Vital Farms; a half-loaf of sourdough white bread and a chocolate chip cookie from ThoroughBread; green curry paste and coconut milk from Thai Fresh; olive oil from Con’ Olio; and Topo Chico Mineral Water!
The video series will serve as a fundraiser for the organization, creating an opportunity for Urban Roots to fulfill its two-part mission: to use food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community.
