On June 24th, we’ll be releasing the second video in our “Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots” video series, sponsored by Whole Foods Market, The City of Austin Office of Sustainability, and Farmhouse Delivery! Our good friends at Antonelli’s Cheese partnered with Urban Roots for week 2, and their Menonita Cheese is featured in a Beef & Veggie Quesadilla recipe by Executive Chef Fermín Nuñez of Suerte! About the Let’s Get Cooking with Urban Roots Video Series
Each video will include a cooking tutorial, a message from Urban Roots Executive Director Max Elliott and our youth leaders, plus more exclusive content. As a part of the video series, Urban Roots is selling a box of produce each week and a recipe from a local chef! The videos will be available on Instagram TV and Urban Roots’ website. Boxes for this week are sold out, but hurry to purchase a box here for $50 for the final week in the series, available for pick up on July 3rd, before they sell out! As a bonus, those who make an additional donation at checkout will be entered to win products from Made In!
This week’s box will include: Squash, Slicer Tomatoes, Eggplant, Mixed Peppers, Okra or Cucumber (Farmer’s Pick), Garlic Chives, Beets, and Purple Daikon Radish from the Urban Roots Farm; ground Wagyu Beef from Peeler Farms; Pasture-Raised Ghee Butter Squeeze Bottle from Vital Farms; Menonita cheese from Antonelli’s Cheese; a half-loaf of sourdough white bread and a chocolate chip cookie from ThoroughBread; 2 tortillas from Suerte; and olive oil from Con’ Olio!
The video series will serve as a fundraiser for the organization, creating an opportunity for Urban Roots to fulfill its two-part mission: to use food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community.
